Wagering on U.S. races increased substantially up 2.93 percent with the average wagering per race day slumping 4.14 percent from $3,594,628 in January 2024 to $3,445,937 in January 2025.

Purses were up overall almost eight percent with field sizes increasing 3.57 percent and starts up 11.5 percent for an additional 1,675 horses in the gate.
