Stakes-Placed Winy, by Looking at Lucky, is the newest mare added to the growing and impressive broodmare band at Circle 8 Ranch!

Winy is a stakes-placed filly recently purchased by Circle 8 Ranch for the upcoming 2021 breeding season. She is by two-time Eclipse Award Winner Lookin at Lucky – a dual hemisphere stallion. Winy raced exclusively in Chile and retired sound with one victory, six seconds and three thirds. At three, she finished second in the Listed Alberto Solari M, as well as the Listed Victor Raby and Carlos Raby, and was  third in the Listed Lisimaco Jaraquemada.



Her sire, Lookin At Lucky, is a son of the exceptional sire Smart Strike. Lookin at Lucky won the Eclipse Award as Best 2-Year-Old Colt of 2009 and Best 3-Year-Old Colt of 2010. He won four stakes at two and four at three, including the Gr. 1 Preakness, Gr. 1 Haskell Invitational, Gr. 1 CashCall Futurity, Gr. 1 Del Mar Futurity, Gr. 1 Norfolk, Gr. 2 Indiana Futurity, Gr. 2 Rebel  and Gr. 2 Best Pal. He was second in the Gr. 1 Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and third in the Gr. 1 Santa Anita Derby, while earning $3.3 million. He stands at Ashford Stud in Versailles, Ky. for $20,000.

At stud in the United States, Lookin At Lucky is the sire of 26 Stakes-Winners and Earners of nearly $41 million, including Kentucky Derby Winner and Millionaire Country House and FIVE-TIME Gr. 1 Winner Accelerate ($6,692,480, Breeders’ Cup Classic, Awesome Again Stakes, Pacific Classic, Gold Cup at Santa Anita and Santa Anita Handicap). In 2020, he has 89 winners, and 11 black-type, with earnings of $5.4 million. In Chile, Lookin At Lucky has sired more than 200 winners, highlighted by THREE-TIME CHAMPION Wow Cat

Winy’s dam, Winter Harbor, has produced 10 winners from 11 foals, including Winter Cat, who is the dam of Wow Cat – a three-quarter sister to Winy. Wow Cat won eight times in eight starts at 2 and 3 in Chile, and was named Horse of the Year and Champion 3-year-old filly in 2018, and Champion 2-year-old filly in 2017. She won four Gr. 1 races and one Gr. 3. Sent to the U. S. in 2018, Wow Cat won the Gr. 1 Beldame, was second by one length in the Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff to the sensational Monomoy Girl, second in her second Beldame, third twice in the Gr. 3 Shuvee and third in the Gr. 1 Personal Ensign. She earned $836,600 in the U. S. and $366,977 in Chile, and sold for $1.7 million at the 2019 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November sale.
