WILMINGTON, Del. — Paul Fowler Jr.’s Shaft’s Bullet will be seeking his fourth win of the year in the $175,000 Battery Park at Delaware Park this Sunday. The mile and a sixteenth test for 3-year-olds and upward has attracted a field of eight. The Battery Park Stakes has been carded as the sixth race with an approximate post time of 3:00 p.m.
In his most recent, the 5-year-old son of Mineshaft posted a 3-length score in a mile and a sixteenth allowance at Laurel Park on June 14. Previously, the Kentucky-bred trained by Gary Capuano ran second in a six-furlong allowance at Delaware Park on May 25. He has a career record of six wins, three seconds and a third from 12 starts with earnings of $277,630.
“I think he is going to be tough,” said trainer Gary Capuano. “He is coming into the race really good and he is coming off a really nice win. In his race at Delaware this season, he broke very slowly and awkward. He normally does not have trouble out of the gate, but he spotted the field and he really came running late. It was a great race, so we are looking forward at trying him going long at Delaware against stakes competition.”
