Santa Anita Clarification Regarding Sunday’s 5th Race

January 23, 2022

ARCADIA, Calif.–Santa Anita Park is issuing the following clarification regarding track surface for Sunday’s fifth race:

Although Sunday’s racing Overnight correctly notes Sunday’s fifth race will in fact be run at six furlongs on TURF, a technological error has resulted in the race mistakenly listed as being run on the MAIN TRACK in both the print edition of Daily Racing Form and the official Santa Anita track program.

Please note that Santa Anita’s online Sunday racing program has been corrected and DRF’s Sunday online past performances for Race five has been corrected as well.

Santa Anita regrets the error and would again like to make clear, that Sunday’s fifth race will be run at six furlongs on TURF, with the inner rail set at 20 feet.

Assigned post time for Sunday’s fifth race is 2:36 p.m. PT.

First post time for a nine-race card on Sunday is at 12:30 p.m., admission gates open at 10:30 a.m.

@jonathanstettin Thank you. This is a truly beautiful tribute to a racing legend. Good to hear the true story of what happened that day.
