Rick Dutrow ran and won with his first horse since coming back as a trainer after a 10 year controversial hard fought ban

Rick Dutrow wins his first race back training on Kentucky Derby day

On February 27th, 2023 Rick Dutrow was allowed to apply for a trainers license in New York. On April 4th, 2023 Dutrow was granted his trainers license and given stalls at Belmont Park.

On April 7th, 2023 Rick Dutrow claimed Prince of Pharoahs for $45,000 on behalf of Sanford Goldfarb and Matthew Morrison. The 6-year-old American Pharoah gelding was claimed from Treadway Stables and trainer Leah Gyarmati.

Dutrow ran the horse back today, May 6th, 2023, his first start as a trainer since being re-licensed in a non winners of one allowance race and won paying $8.20.

In a win that was a long time coming and unquestionably a career highlight for the Kentucky Derby and multiple Breeders’ Cup winning trainer, it is notes it came on the First Saturday in May, Kentucky Derby Saturday.

It certainly looks like Rick’s horsemanship has stayed sharp and focused and there are many more wins to follow.
