Purely Hot, Dam of TVG Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Contender Eight Rings, Supplemented to Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale

October 18, 2019

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 18, 2019) – Keeneland announced today that graded stakes winner Purely Hot, dam of Grade 1 winner and leading TVG Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) candidate Eight Rings, has been supplemented to the November Breeding Stock Sale, to be held Nov. 6-17. Purely Hot, in foal to leading sire Union Rags, is consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, and cataloged as Hip 274G in the premier Book 1 on opening day.

“We are excited to offer another exceptional broodmare in Purely Hot,” WinStar Farm President, CEO and Racing Manager Elliott Walden said. “Two years ago, we sold the dams of four Grade 1 winners at Keeneland race course and hope to replicate their success.”

Purely Hot won 12 races at distances from 5½ furlongs to 1 1/16 miles during her four-year career, capturing the Whimsical (G3) at Woodbine and finishing second in the Preque Isle Downs Masters (G2). She is an 11-year-old daughter of Pure Prize out of the winning Kissin Kris mare Wood Not. Her second dam, Wood So, was a multiple graded stakes winner of more than a half-million dollars.

Eight Rings, Purely Hot’s colt by Empire Maker, has won two of his three races at two, among them a six-length victory in the American Pharoah (G1) at Santa Anita on Sept. 27, to rank him among the leading contenders for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, Eight Rings sold for $520,000 at Keeneland’s 2018 September Yearling Sale to SF Bloodstock/Starlight West.

“Adding Purely Hot was a massive addition for our consignment,” Taylor Made Vice President of Marketing and Public Sales Operations Mark Taylor said. “She gives me the same feeling as the dam of American Pharoah when we sold her at the end of his 2-year-old campaign.”

Union Rags was represented by two yearlings that sold for $1 million each at Keeneland’s recent September Sale, where he ranked among the top 10 sires by gross.

Also supplemented are Grade 3 winner Gloryzapper, half-sister to Grade 1 winner Arklow

“Keeneland is excited to have the opportunity to showcase this lovely Grade 1 producing mare who is in foal to a top stallion,” Keeneland Vice President of Racing and Sales Bob Elliston said. “The success of Eight Rings makes Purely Hot a highly prized offering who will attract attention from buyers around the world.”

Keeneland also announced two additional supplements to the fall November Sale: Grade 3 winner Gloryzapper (Hip 274H), a daughter of Ghostzapper in foal to Tapit, and the 3-year-old winning Flatter filly Eve Harrington (Hip 274F), a half-sister to Grade 1-winning Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) contender and millionaire Arklow.

Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, consigns Gloryzapper, whose first foal, a yearling filly by Medaglia d’Oro, sold for $1.1 million last month at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

A half-sister to multiple graded stakes-placed Banree, Gloryzapper won the first two starts of her career at Del Mar. She prevailed in a head-and-head battle to capture the L.A. Woman (G3) while defeating Grade 3 winner Wild at Heart, Grade 1-placed Luminance, Grade 3 winner Harlington’s Rose and Group 3 winner Indriya.

Her sire, Ghostzapper, is the broodmare sire of undefeated Triple Crown winner Justify and champion sprinter Drefong.

Hunter Valley Farm, agent, consigns Eve Harrington, also a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner and $489,660-earner Maraud and from the family of Grade 1 winners Fourty Niners Son and Cindy’s Hero, and track record setter and graded stakes winner Delegation.

Eve Harrington is cataloged as a broodmare prospect.
