Peter Miller wants Stormy Liberal Retired, Owners Say No

December 10, 2019

Stormy Liberal, the first horse claimed who went on to win not one but two Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint races, back to back is apparently moving to another barn. Trainer Peter Miller, who claimed and won the two Breeders’ Cup races with him issued the following statement:

“I am sorry to announce that Stormy Liberal will be leaving our barn to continue racing under another trainer. Both my veterinarian and I believe the horse should be retired.”

Miller didn’t say where the horse was being transferred. Jorge Navarro could be a possible landing spot as he does train for Stormy Liberal’s owners Rockingham Ranch.

This is Rockingham Ranch’s response on Twitter:

In regards to the below press release from Mr. Miller. Our partner Mr. Bernsen had a difference of opinion with Mr. Miller and has chosen to buy Rockingham Ranch out of Stormy Liberal and send him to the care of David Scanlon in Ocala, FL where he will be thoroughly evaluated.

Congrats @jonathanstettin ! That’s why ur the king!
