Norberto Arroyo Makes A Quiet Return

May 24, 2019

Jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr. has made a quiet but thus far successful return to riding and winning races. Back from a broken ankle which caused him a lengthly hiatus from the saddle Norberto began accepting mounts at Santa Anita two weeks ago.

He has ridden 10 horses and has two wins for a 20% comeback ratio to date. Arroyo is riding for Jack Cavara, Phil D’Amato, and Jerry Hollendorfer this weekend. It was not that long ago Arroyo won the riding title at the Del Mar Bing Crosby meet, and also led the standings for periods at Santa Anita and Oaklawn Park.

Norberto Arroyo had this to say about his return:

“It took longer than I expected for my ankle to heal, but I wanted to make sure I was 110% in every way before I came back. I was anxious to start winning races again but knew I had to be ready and completely healed. Once I was, then I came back and I am feeling as good and strong as ever. It feels good to be back and focused and winning. “
