DEL MAR, Calif.—This Friday’s first post will shift from 4 p.m. to 3 p.m. and remain at that time on Fridays for the balance of the meet, which concludes on Sunday, September 8.
The time shift is keyed on the setting of the sun in the San Diego area, which corrects by almost an hour over the course of the summer. Sunset on Opening Day (July 20) was at 7:55 p.m. Sunset on Closing Day (September 8) is 7:04 p.m.
Additionally, first post on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays will adjust to 1:30 p.m. from the normal 2 p.m. beginning on Saturday, August 31. It will continue at those 1:30 starts on those days for the remainder of the session.
