Bucchero’s First Foal a Filly Born at Golden Legacy Stables

January 15, 2020

Morriston, Florida (January 15, 2020) – Bucchero – standing at Pleasant Acres Stallions – sired his first reported foal January 14, 2020 when a filly was born at Golden Legacy Stables in Ocala, FL.

The filly is out of Goldenlegacy’shope – an unraced Kentucky mare out of Laurel Lassie (IRE) and a daughter of Medaglia d’Oro’s Grade 1 Winning and Graded-Stakes Placed Warrior’s Reward (KY). Laurel Lassie is by Shinko Forest (IRE) – a Grade 1 Winning and Graded-Stakes Placed millionaire with earnings of $2,789,560.

“She was born very alert, good bone, very correct, good balance, and beautiful,” said Blas Perez of Golden Legacy Stables.

Bucchero is the first son to stud of rising star Kantharos, and along with his ¾ relative Multiple Grade 1 Winner World of Trouble, they make up a powerful trio for this hot bloodline. A unique family, Bucchero and World of Trouble showed true versatility, winning multiple stakes on both turf and dirt as well as short and long distances.

Multiple Grade 2 Winner Bucchero, who bred to 130 mares in his first season, won back-to-back victories in the Woodford Stakes at Keeneland in 2017 and 2018. He earned $947,936 on turf, dirt, and synthetic from 5 furlongs to 1 1/16 mile, with a total of 11 wins. Bucchero defeated 24 Graded Stakes Winners including Lady Aurelia (in two meetings), Marsha (who later sold for $8,469,783), Breeders’ Cup Champion Mongolian Saturday, and Undrafted, as well as Grade 2 and Grade 3 winners Disco Partner, Pure Sensation, Rainbow Heir, Conquest Tsunami, Hogy, and Holding Gold.

Harlan Malter, Managing Partner of Bucchero Stallion, LLC, recently introduced a breeding program for mare owners who breed to Bucchero in 2020 and 2021 named the “Loyalty Lock-In Program – Breed Twice, Lock in the Price.” Acknowledging that breeder support is the backbone to a successful stallion, the newly launched program allows breeders to lock in their stallion fee from 2020/2021 for the subsequent years of 2022, 2023, and 2024.
