
LEXINGTON, Ky.— Jesse Englehart and James Kelly’s pacesetting Brazillionaire shook off challenges at the top of the stretch and in deep stretch to win the featured $108,290 Benson Purse for 3-year-olds and up by 1¼ lengths over favored Al’s Rocket Wednesday afternoon. Trained by Jeremiah Englehart and ridden by Francisco Arrieta, Brazillionaire completed the distance of about 1 1/8 miles over a turf course labeled as good in 1:53.40.
It was the fourth consecutive victory for Brazillionaire, a 5-year-old Kentucky-bred son of Candy Ride (ARG) out of the Curlin mare Flash Forward. Brazillionaire, a Keeneland sales graduate, improved his record to 15-5-2-5 and boosted his career earnings to $233,685 with Wednesday’s $64,790 check.
Brazillionaire returned $17.26, $6.44 and $4.20. Al’s Rocket, ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., returned $3.48 and $2.64 and finished a head in front of Kitten Mischief, who paid $4.02 to show under Vincent Cheminaud.
Friday and Saturday are the final two days of Keeneland’s Fall Meet.
