LOUISVILLE, Ky.– Hat Creek Racing’s Averly Jane and Gregory Kaufman’s Kaufymaker, daylight winners in their respective 4 ½-furlong debuts at Keeneland on April 15, head a field of eight 2-year-olds entered Friday for next Wednesday’s 27th running of the $150,000 Kentucky Juvenile going five furlongs on the main track.
Averly Jane routs her opposition like a rocket on debut at Keeneland under Joel Rosario.
The Kentucky Juvenile will go as the ninth race on Wednesday’s 10-race program with a 4:52 p.m. (all times Eastern) post time. First post Wednesday is 12:45 p.m.
Both fillies are trained by Wesley Ward who has won the Kentucky Juvenile twice previously with fillies Silvertoni in 2016 and Aegean in 2009. Averly Jane opened the April 15 Keeneland program with an 8 ¾-length victory and Kaufymaker followed two races later with a 6 ¼-length victory.
Tyler Gaffalione has the mount on Averly Jane and will exit post four with Kaufymaker breaking to her inside from post three under Martin Pedroza.
