Santa Anita is a thoroughbred horse racing track located in Arcadia, California. Justifiably renowned for hosting some of the more prominent horse races in the US. It is a seasonal track and operates during the winter and spring racing seasons. The park is widely considered by many horse racing enthusiasts as one of the world’s most beautiful race tracks, thanks to the San Gabriel Mountains that form a picturesque backdrop.
This track is home to many highly prestigious races that include the Santa Anita Handicap, Beholder Stakes, Santa Anita Derby, The Gamely Stakes, Shoemaker Mile and The Gold Cup at Santa Anita. Apart from that, the track has also hosted the world-famous Breeders Cup which returns to The Great Race Place on November 1st and 2nd 2019 for a 10th time.
The Santa Anita Race Track boasts of a one-mile (approximately 1,609 m) dirt main track. This track rings a turf course that measures 0.9 miles or 1,584 yards.
A salient feature of this racetrack is its highly unusual hillside turf course (down the hill), which is used chiefly to run turf races at a distance of approximately 6½ furlongs (1,287.9 m).
Santa Anita occupies some 320 acres (1.3 km2) of pristine green space. It has a 1,100-foot long grandstand that can easily seat 26,000 enthusiasts. Its facade is rendered in a very old Art Deco style dating back to the early 1930s. The track also has a very large infield area, which resembles a village park, complete with large trees and picnic tables. The place can easily accommodate 50,000 guests.
The park has recently renovated its personal box seating area to include seating from four to eight individuals per box. Each box is well-equipped with its own personal television monitors that can broadcast live racing onsite so that you do not miss a single second of the action.
