For the first time, Spendthrift Farm will have homebred yearlings offered at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale, which will be held next Tuesday, July 13, beginning at 10 a.m. local time.
Spendthrift has a total of six yearlings cataloged, including the first offerings from Free Drop Billy and Mor Spirit, a colt from Lord Nelson’s second crop, a filly by champion sire Into Mischief, and a filly by the legendary Malibu Moon.
Free Drop Billy’s filly, hip 5, is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Populist Politics. Mor Spirit has a pair of colts, hips 44 and 62. The former is out of Malibu Cove and is a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Kalypso (Brody’s Cause), and the latter is from the immediate family of millionaire and Grade 1 winner Cetewayo, as well as Grade 1 winner Dynaforce.
Lord Nelson, whose first foals are 2-year-olds, will be represented by hip 114, a colt from the same family as Malibu Moon’s dynamic Grade 1 winner Carina Mia and Miss Match, a Grade 1 winner in both the U. S. and Argentina.
Malibu Moon’s colt, hip 141, is out of six-time stakes winner Daring Kathy, and Into Mischief’s filly, hip 339, hails from the family of Grade 1 winners Diplomat Lady and Hunter O’Riley.
