Santa Anita’s Hollywood Meet Begins Friday

ARCADIA, Calif.— Santa Anita begins its Hollywood Meet this Friday with first post time at 1 p.m. The 29-day Hollywood Meet runs through Sunday, June 16, offering fans and horsemen world class racing alongside an array of dining and entertainment options.

Each Friday during the Hollywood Meet, free parking and admission are offered plus $3 beers and $5 margaritas for those 21 and over. Also awaiting during the Hollywood Meet is the race to the Triple Crown featuring Kentucky Derby Day on Saturday, May 4, Preakness Day Saturday, May 18 and Belmont Stakes Day on June 8. The Hollywood Meet will operate on a Friday through Sunday schedule with the exception of Memorial Day weekend. On Memorial Day Monday, May 27, a four-day race week will conclude with a fantastic day of racing featuring two Grade I stakes, the $300,000 Shoemaker Mile and $300,000 Gamely Stakes, plus the storied Hollywood Gold Cup at the classic distance of 1 ¼ miles on dirt.

First post time each day during the Hollywood Meet is at 1 p.m. except for Triple Crown Saturdays (May 4, May 18, June 8) and closing day. (First post is 12 p.m. on Triple Crown Saturdays and closing day on June 16).

Ready to compete full-time at the stand are all the leaders from Santa Anita’s recently concluded Classic Meet including leading jockey Juan Hernandez, top trainer Doug O’Neill and leading owner Hronis Racing. O’Neill, a two-time winner of the Kentucky Derby, won the Classic Meet trainer’s title by just a single victory over Mark Glatt. Phil D’Amato, third in the trainer’s standings at the Classic Meet, last year won the inaugural Hollywood Meet trainer’s crown.

Each weekend during the Hollywood Meet, Santa Anita will also host its popular Infield Family Fun Zone for fans of all ages. The Family Fun Zone, which is easily accessed via Gate 6 off Colorado Place, includes pony rides, inflatable jumpers, face painting and much more.
