WITH SANTA ANITA-BASED FLIGHTLINE HEAVILY FAVORED, $6 MILLION BC CLASSIC TO GO AT 2:40 PT

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2022)—With Santa Anita-based Flightline positioned as the 3-5 morning line favorite in the Grade I, $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic, Santa Anita’s admission gates will open early on Saturday at 7 a.m. in order to accommodate simulcast wagering on a tremendous 11-race card at Keeneland which gets underway at 7:30 a.m. PT.

The 39th running of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships will consist of nine Breeders’ Cup events from Keeneland, beginning with Grade I, $1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, which has been carded as race three with assigned post time at 8:50 a.m. PT.

First live race post time for a 10-race card at Santa Anita on Saturday is at 12:30 p.m.

Classic Day will build to a crescendo at 2:40 p.m. PT, which is assigned post time for the Breeders’ Cup Classic.  Trained by John Sadler, Flightline, a 4-year-old colt by Tapit who fetched $1 million as a yearling, is unbeaten in 5 starts, winning by a combined margin of nearly 63 lengths.

In his first try at a mile and one quarter, Flightline produced an effort for the ages on Sept. 3, winning the Grade I Pacific Classic by 19 ¼ while geared down under Flavien Prat.  Stopping the clock at  1:59.20, Flightline earned a stratospheric 126 Beyer Speed Figure, easily best in North America this year.

Owned by California-based Hronis Racing, LLC, Siena Farm, LLC, Summer Wind Equine, LLC, West Point Thoroughbreds and Woodford Racing, LLC, Flightline’s future remains undetermined, with many in racing hoping he’ll continue his racing career at age five, with perhaps his career finale coming in the 40th running of the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Nov. 4, 2023.

Clocker’s Corner will open for simulcast wagering via Gate 8 off of Baldwin Ave. at 7 a.m.  Food and beverage service is also available at Clockers’ Corner beginning at 6 a.m.

Santa Anita’s spacious Infield Area will open Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and the track’s popular Infield Family Fun Zone will also be open on both Saturday and Sunday.  For vehicular access, fans are advised to enter via Gate 6 off of Colorado Place.

Due to the return to Pacific Standard Time late Saturday night, first post time for a 10-race card on closing day Sunday is at 12 noon.
