Ron Anderson, Joel Rosario, and The Italian Connection

December 10, 2019

Jockey Agent Ron Anderson announced via his Twitter account he will be representing Italian rider Umberto Rispoli at the upcoming Santa Anita meet. Anderson will continue to book mounts for his main rider Joel Rosario as well. When jockeys like Joe Talamo and Kent Desormeaux are leaving their mainstay meets out West Anderson is going in not with one rider but two. Rispoli has most recently been riding in Hong Kong against a colony of world class riders including “Magic Man” Joao Moreira.

Rispoli is a two time Italian Champion jockey and has 245 winners in one year, 2009. According to Anderson, Rispoli was brought to his attention by Frankie Dettori and is planning on staying and riding in the States permanently. He begins taking calls for opening day on December 26th.

Rispoli has ridden in Canada but to date not in the United States. he has Group 1 wins in Italy, Hong Kong, Japan, and France. We wish Umberto all the success in the world and welcome him to racing here in North America.

Great story Jon. I've read it before and it was nice to refresh my memory. No doubt Past The Wire is in my view The best thoroughbred racing channel and website on the internet. Thank you for creating and maintaining it.
