Promising Filly Taraz Suffers Catastrophic Injury training at Oaklawn Park

February 17, 2020

She was one of the more talented three-year old fillies in training, and certainly created a buzz and lofty expectations. Sadly, none of the expectations for this Juddmonte filly will be realized.

This morning Taraz, while training at Oaklawn Park fractured her left front pastern. She was taken from the track back to the barn where X-Rays were taken and examined by Dr. Bob Hunt. After consulting with trainer Brad Cox, Juddmonte, and veterinarians, the decision was made to euthanize the filly. Taraz has a full brother, Silk Trade who has yet to race. She was on most people’s radar as a candidate for the Kentucky Oaks.
