LAUREL, Md. – There were 179 winning tickets in Friday’s Stronach 5 with each ticket returning $655.10.
The popular wager, featuring races from Laurel Park, Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream Park, and Golden Gate Fields along with a 12-percent takeout, had five winners returning $8.60 or less.
The Stronach 5 started with two races from Laurel. Heffner dug in down the stretch to win Laurel’s eighth race while Bazinga C beat a three-horse photo to win the ninth race. The Stronach 5 headed west for the third leg, where Over Regulated broke his maiden for trainer Doug O’Neill and jockey Mario Gutierrez.
Gulfstream’s ninth race, a 1 1/16-mile turf race moved to the Tapeta, was won by the 5-2 shot Champagne Lady. The Stronach 5 concluded with Golden Gate’s third race and even-money favorite Cat Lady Blues driving to victory.
