BALTIMORE, Md. – There was only one winning ticket in Friday’s Stronach 5, and that one ticket was worth $99,519.40.
The big ticket was driven by a 45-1 longshot at Golden Gate Fields and a $30 winner at Laurel Park.
Featuring a low 12-percent takeout, the Stronach 5 also featured two races from Gulfstream Park.
The Stronach 5 kicked off with the 13-1 longshot My Super Sally ($30.60) winning Laurel’s seventh race. That was followed by Gulfstream’s eighth race and the 3-5 favorite Peter D ($3.40) being a popular winner. The third leg of the sequence returned to Laurel for the eighth race. Determined Truth ($10.20), a 2-year-old filly by Flatter, drew away down the stretch for the win.
The Stronach 5 moved to Golden Gate for the fourth leg, and it resulted in the 45-1 shot Shanghai Mist holding off the 6-5 favorite Quick Time. The sequence concluded with California Frolic ($7.80) winning Gulfstream’s ninth race and the final leg of the Stronach 5.
