FRANKLIN, Ky. – Neat, winner of four stakes in his last five starts, takes on Brilliant Berti and Aspenite in an overflow field of thirteen 3-year-olds entered Tuesday for Sunday’s $1.5 million Gun Runner Stakes. All horses run for the $1 million base purse, with Kentucky-breds competing for an additional $500,000.

Neat most recently won Saratoga’s Grade 2 Hall of Fame Stakes after taking the Belmont-at-Aqueduct’s Manila (G3), Keeneland’s Transylvania (G3) and Sam Houston’s Texas Turf Mile. Trainer Rob Atras and owner Randy Gullatt are seeking their second stakes of the meet, following Chasing Liberty’s victory via disqualification in last Sunday’s $1 million National Thoroughbred League Juvenile Sprint.

Brilliant Berti was second in Colonial Downs’ Secretariat (G2) after winning Churchill Downs’ American Derby. Aspenite won last year’s Kentucky Downs Juvenile and most recently was third in Horseshoe Indianapolis’ Caesars and second by a nose in the Penn Mile (G3). Others include Iowa Derby winner Henro in his turf debut, 2-for-2 Herchee (another Twirling Candy offspring) and stakes-winners Lucky Jeremy and In a Jam.

Sunday’s card also features a trio of 2-year-old stakes, each worth $1 million for Kentucky-breds ($500,000 for others): the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Fillies at a mile, the Untapable for fillies at 6 1/2-furlongs and the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile.
