LEXINGTON, Ky.— Green Lantern Stables’ homebred Miss Riddler successfully returned to competition in Thursday’s featured $110,000 Jackpot Farm Purse, grabbing command on the first turn of the 1-mile turf race and holding off a determined rally from Be My Sunshine to win by 1 length.

Ridden by Luis Saez for trainer Eddie Kenneally, Miss Riddler won the race for 3-year-old fillies in 1:36.80 on a course labeled firm.

Today’s race marked the first start for Miss Riddler since she captured an allowance race at Ellis Park last July in her career debut.

By Dialed In, Miss Riddler is out of the Royal Academy mare Gotta Have Her. She earned $62,233 today to boost her career bankroll to $98,233 with two wins in two starts.

Miss Riddler, the 10-1 fifth choice, paid $23.82, $11.46 and $5.90. Be My Sunshine, ridden by Tyler Gaffalione, returned $5.28 and $3.06 to show. Running third, another three-quarters of a length back, under Irad Ortiz Jr. was Venencia (FR), who paid $2.74 to show.

Miss Riddler was one of three winners Thursday for Saez. He also rode Thrash and Payne’s Arden’s Assault to win the third race for trainer Brad Cox and was aboard Redmon Farm’s Braganza, another Kenneally runner, to win the eighth race.

With one day remaining in the Spring Meet, Saez is tied with Tyler Gaffalione atop the list of the meet’s leading riders with 18 wins.

In other races for leading horsemen, trainer Wesley Ward has 12 victories, one more than Brad Cox.

Godolphin and Stonestreet Stables are tied with five wins apiece among owners.
