Game of Silks – Reflections, Week of 12/04/23

December 11, 2023

By 2YO EdgeMan

It is hard to believe that the yearlings that were originally minted in the Game of Silks a little over a year ago will be having their third birthday in just three weeks from today. These fillies and colts are the ones who started it all off and soon Silks will be adding the next class of babies into the mix for 2024 as today’s yearlings will become two-year-olds on January 1. This exciting, fantasy-style dynasty horse racing game just continues to grow and pick up new members. If you are not yet part of the fun and rewards, check it out today at silks.io.

The list below shows many of the races run last week with purses of $50,000 or greater with the winner being owned in the Game of Silks. It’s a thrill to see so many new Silks’ owners’ names on this list and it speaks to the amazing growth that the game has experienced. And please remember, this just shows the bigger races and does not even consider the horses that finish 2nd, 3rd, or 4th which also generates rewards for their Silks’ owners.

Saturday saw the Louisiana Champions Day Lassie Stakes run at the Fair Grounds as Race #11. It offered a purse of $100,000, was restricted to LA state-bred fillies and it was contested over six furlongs on the dirt. The race drew eleven entrants, including the even-money post-time favorite, Undercover Girl. At the break, she got away slowly as was bumped in between rivals. This allowed Guitar Solo to jet out into the lead down the backstretch. She and jockey Joel Dominguez clipped off strong fractions of 21.69 and 45.44 seconds and opened up a two-length advantage turning for home. However, the early pace began to wear on the leader and the 4/1 shot, Accommodate Eva, had been taking dead aim while traveling wide on the turn moving up from last place, but she was still in sixth as they straightened out for the run down the lane. Accommodate Eva and pilot Brian Hernandez, Jr. were gobbling up ground and caught the leader, who slipped to third place, late and ‘Eva’ triumphed by ¾ of a length on the wire. The final time was clocked at 1:11.98 by the Dallas Stewart trainee and the tote board flashed $10.60 for $2 win tickets. The proud owner of this gal in Silks is Alpha Dragon Lair and for that performance, I’m pleased to present my prestigious Game of Silks’ Owner of the Week award to Alpha Dragon Lair. Well done – Congratulations!
