Thank you to Jay Privman and Jay Hovdey for capturing this great moment in horse racing history. The Sport of Kings has a storied history and more than its fair share of moments. This particular one is well deserved and was well played by the two Jays capturing the moment Fernando ‘The Bull” Toro found out he was inducted into the Horse Racing Hall of Fame.
Obviously a touching moment for a truly great rider who did not see this one coming. Check out Fernando’s emotional reaction and gratitude for something he earned many times over. A special thanks to Jay Privman for letting us bring you this great moment on Past the Wire TV!
Fernando won the inaugural Breeders’ Cup Mile aboard Royal Heroine back at Hollywood Park in 1984. Toro rode 27,496 races winning 3,555 of them. He rode Barberstown, By Land and Sea, Spence Bay, Nostalgia’s Star, Super Moment, Caucasus, and Estrapade amassing over 56 million in earnings. Known as a fierce turf rider Fernando could rice anything on any surface. It is great to see him where he belongs, amongst the greats in the Hall of Fame.
