Coolmore is sending two of their top stallion prospects to Australia for stud duty.
“Saxon Warrior and Mendelssohn combine group 1-winning excellence at 2 with remarkable performances at 3,” said Paddy Oman, Coolmore Australia’s sales and nominations representative. “They are both by exceptional sires, have stallions’ pedigrees, and will suit the Australian broodmare population. They’re two very exciting prospects and offer Australian breeders the best of international form and bloodlines.”
Both horses were trained by Ireland’s champion trainer Aidan O’Brien. Saxon Warrior was an outstanding 2-year-old, winning all three starts.
Mendelssohn, a Keeneland September Yearling Sale topper who brought $3 million, is out of Leslie’s Lady, making him a half brother to 11-time grade 1 winner and four-time champion Beholder and grade 1 winner and successful sire Into Mischief. He is by Scat Daddy.
