Competitive Edge’s Louisianalightning Leads Two Win Day For Sire

December 4, 2020

Competitive Edge

Louisianalightning (3g Competitive Edge x Princess Composer, by Composer) made easy work of his debut on Thursday with an easy 5 ½ length romp at Fair Grounds.

Hustled out of the gate in the six furlong dirt race by Florent Geroux, the 3-year-old took over the lead and immediately showed the speed that saw him register bullet works in preparation for this race. The gelding had open lengths on the field within a few furlongs and when Geroux asked him to pick up the pace in the stretch, he extended even further for the 5 ½ length win.

Trained by Michael Stidham for Marc Winston, George T. Schifano, and 4 G Racing, Louisianalightning was a $125,000 OBS April 2-Year-Old purchase last year.

The 85th worldwide winner for Competitive Edge, the Jose M. Camejo-bred Louisianalightning is out of the multiple stakes winner Princess Composer.

The dam of three winners from three to race, she has also produced the stakes placed Composed and Meraki. Princess Composer is a daughter herself of multiple graded stakes winner Spruce Fir, who is the dam of three stakes horses.

Princess Composer also has a weanling filly by Competitive Edge named Cangua.

Louisianalightning was one of two winners on the day for his sire with the multiple stakes-placed Competitive Idea (3g Competitive Idea x That’s The Idea, by Diabolical) was an easy Allowance winner at Zia Park. It was the third victory for the gelding, with Competitive Idea never finishing off the board in eight starts.

The sire of stakes horses in both of his crops of racing age, Competitive Edge has four stakes winners and 11 stakes horses to his name.
