Cigar Mile, Remsen, and Demoiselle Highlight Strong Aqueduct Card on December 7th

November 17, 2019

On Saturday December 7th, in addition to the Cigar Mile, Saturday’s Aqueduct Live, presented by Claiborne Farm, includes coverage of the grade 2, $250,000 Remsen and grade 2, $250,000 Demoiselle.

The Cigar Mile will feature Maximum Security looking to solidify his bid for three-year old champion. He will likely face a challenge in the race and maybe for the championship from fellow three-year old Spun to Run. Spun to Run comes off a big win against older horses in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile, grade 1 run at Santa Anita two weeks ago. maximum Security had a bout with colic which caused him to miss the Breeders’ Cup but he successfully handled older horses in the Bold Ruler, grade 3, sprinting setting up what should prove to be a good match up.

A victory in the Cigar Mile would give Maximum Security a third Grade 1 victory and keep him atop the discussion for champion three-year-old male along with Code of Honor, who has two Grade 1 victories but who finished seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, and new to the conversation Spun to Run. Maximum Security beat Code of Honor in the Florida Derby, grade 1 and though he finished first in the Kentucky Derby, Maximum Security was disqualified to 17th for alleged interference, while Code of Honor was elevated from third to second in the Derby. Maximum Security has yet to face Spun to Run.

Maximum Security has five wins from seven starts this year and is 6 for 8 overall.

@jonathanstettin Your article re reading when a horse dead on board made me some $ just now. Untapable was, IMO, odds-on, but dead. TY!
