KEE2:0101224 – One and 1/16th miles on the Turf. The boys get after each other on the grass. I apologize for this abbreviated version of ‘Baby Talk’, but wanted to share some information on my pick in this race – #10 Executive (7/2). He’s a colt by Constitution (ALL = 14.6%; Turf = 9.9%) who also has two other sons in this event. His dam (by Curlin BM = 9.8%) was winless in two tries and this guy is her first foal. Additionally, she comes from the family that’s given us Not This Time and Liam’s Map. In the sales ring, this lad brought ‘only’ $100K as a short yearling, but when he went through the Keeneland September Yearling sales last year, he demanded $900K from Pin Oak Stud (2/66) HOFer Bill Mott (M = 2/13, 15.4%, ROI = $2.46) will slip the saddle on him for the second time, his first run having come up at The Spa this summer when his debut was contested at the same distance on the same surface as today. In that one, he languished at the back of the pack, far off the lead, but made a furious run, starting late on the turn to finish less than two lengths back in third. Junior Alvarez will pilot him for the second time, so he knows the turn of foot that this horse exhibits.
We’ve got one more of ‘our races’ on Sunday here at Keeneland and we’ll shoot to cover it for you on www.PastTheWire.com Stay safe and well – thank you, my Delightful Edgies.
