Miami, FL — November 7, 2020 Longines is proud to time the victory of Authentic in the 37th annual Breeders Cup in Lexington, KY today on November 7th. To commemorate this astonishing victory, the Swiss watchmaker awarded Authentic owners Spendthrift Farm LLC, MyRaceHorse.com, Madaket Stables LLC and Starlight Racing Stables, trainer Bob Baffert and jockey John Velazquez with Longines timepieces. Earlier that day, the Longines Turf prize was claimed by Tarnawa with owner H.H. Aga Khan Studs, trainer Dermot Weld and jockey Colin Keane and the Longines Distaff prize was then claimed by Monomoy Girl with owner Michael Dubb (Monomoy Stables LLC, The Elstone Group LLC & Bethlehem Stables), trainer Brad Cox and jockey Florent Geroux.
In keeping with current health guidelines, the Longines Breeders Cup Classic was watched by thousands at home via the television and live streaming apps and were even able to experience the races through virtual reality, a first-time offering for the event.
In anticipation of the race, the Longines Breeders Cup Classic alongside its Official Partner Longines hosted a virtual fashion contest, the Longines Prize for Elegance, where hopeful equestrian fans and overall fashionistas shared their most stylish outfits via social media. The distinguished panel of judges included U.S. Longines President Pascal Savoy, storied television personality Carson Kressley, model and sportscaster Bonnie-Jill Laflin and sportscaster Julie Stewart-Binks. @Quelareneeand @AustinFlaugh were chosen as the winners for their dashing ensembles. To award both contestants, Longines gifted each a men’s Longines Spirit L3.810.4.73.2 and a women’s PrimaLuna L8.109.5.79.6 respectively.
