Iconic Runhappy Santa Anita Derby Day Offers Fans 12 Races, A $3 Million Pick 6 Pool and Much More Saturday!

ARCADIA, Calif.—The 86th running of the Grade I, $750,000 Runhappy Santa Anita Derby on Saturday will offer fans of all ages world class racing and much more, beginning with the track’s annual Derby Day 5k Run & Walk at 8 a.m. Admission gates will open at 10 a.m. and first post time for a 12-race card that will include a total of six stakes, is at 12 noon. Assigned post time for the Runhappy Santa Anita Derby, which has been carded as race six and will be telecast live on NBC, is at 2:45 p.m. PT.
With a mandatory payout in place in Santa Anita’s popular 20 cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick Six Jackpot, track officials project the total Rainbow Six pool will likely reach $3 million. The Rainbow Six will be comprised of races seven through 12. Approximate post time for Saturday’s seventh race is 3:20 p.m.
Fans will also be treated to Santa Anita’s Infield Spring Carnival on Saturday, which is easily accessed by entering Gate 6 off of Colorado Place on Santa Anita’s northern perimeter. - Early Registration for Derby Day Run & Walk from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.
- Baldwin Ave closed to all vehicular traffic between Huntington Drive and the 210 Freeway between 7:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.
- Santa Anita Infield and Grandstand Admission Gates open at 10 a.m.
- First post time for 12-race card is at 12 noon
- Race 6, Runhappy Santa Anita Derby post time set for 2:45 p.m. Race will be broadcast live on NBC.
- Race 7, leg one in the 20 cent Rainbow Six with a mandatory payout and likely pool of $3 million, has an approximate post time of 3:20 p.m.
- Saturday’s 12th and final race will have an approximate post time of 5:50 p.m.
