We have three significant 2018 Kentucky Derby prep and point races across the country today.
We have the Holy Bull at Gulfstream Park, the RB Lewis at Santa Anita and the Withers at Aqueduct. This should give us a gauge at where we are heading into the first Saturday in May. Of two horses who hit my Derby radar early but who have not made it to anyone else’s of yet, and who got not a mention in Haskin’s first edition of the Derby Dozen, one runs in California today.
Peace caught my eye on debut as a possible under the radar Derby horse. he doesn’t have to win today as the goal is not until they run for the roses, but I would love to see him take a step forward. The other I wish was running today is Gleason. He isn’t on anyone’s radar yet either. Well almost anyone.
There are some good undercard races too. Enjoy the races today, it should be interesting to watch. Dale Romans has 4 entered in the Holy Bull but I think Hollywood Star is going to scratch in favor of a different spot. The highly regarded Untamed Domain runs in the Dania Beach on turf just prior to the Holy Bull and Roy H is on the undercard at Santa Anita.
