Union Maiden wins Wednesday’s featured $71,000 Mineola Purse at Keeneland

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Wise Racing’s Union Maiden rallied from midpack to grab the lead at the three-sixteenths pole and go on to a 2¼-length victory over Aurelia Garland in Wednesday’s featured $71,000 Mineloa Purse for fillies and mares.

Trained by Chad Brown and ridden by the meet’s leading rider, Tyler Gaffalione, Union Maiden covered the Beard Course of 7 furlongs, 184 feet over a fast main track in 1:28.17.

A Keeneland sales graduate, Union Maiden is a 3-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of Union Rags out of the Congrats mare Pantanal. The victory was worth $42,600 and boosted her earnings to $103,114 with a record of 6-2-0-2.

Union Maiden paid $13.80, $6.40 and $4.40. Aurelia Garland, ridden by Adam Beschizza, returned $5.20 and $3.60 with Impeccable Style finishing third under Ricardo Santana Jr. and paying $3 to show.
