Undefeated G1 Winner Maxfield Back on The Work Tab

October 26, 2020

Godolphin’s homebred Maxfield returned to the work tab for the first time in four months by posting a three-eighths of mile breeze in :36.80 Sunday morning at Keeneland.

Winner of the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) here last fall and the Matt Winn (G3) at Churchill Downs in May in his lone 2020 start, Maxfield was sidelined in June by a condylar fracture of his right front. He began jogging at Churchill the middle of September and has been galloping at Keeneland since the first of October.

“We are kicking a few ideas around but there is nothing planned for him right now,” trainer Brendan Walsh said after the work.

Geo, with your hard work and precision you gave us all the edge we needed to be VERY COMPETITIVE at Fairgrounds yesterday. Can't thank you and John enough for that. It's something 98% of us simply don't have the experience, knowledge and skill to do ourselves. That's the truth.
