The Race of the Century

Three horse of the year winners in the same race, yes it can happen

Ray DeStefano joins us again on Past the Wire TV to talk the race of the century. Three, yes three, horse of the year winners in the same race, when will we ever see that again. The race was the Woodward and back then it was run at Aqueduct and there were over 50,000 fans in attendance that day.

In addition to talking this great race with Damascus, Buckpasser, and Dr. Fager we talk how the Seattle Slew bloodline is the one that lives on in greatness today on the sire side and he was the cheapest of them all.

We talk how Ray got a job for not only himself but his cousin at legendary Claiborne Farm and get a glimpse into the values and work ethic and both Bull and Seth Hancock.

A must watch for any true racing fan or student of this great game, the Sport of Kings!

@jonathanstettin Wonderful article! You’re a great ambassador for the game! We’ve been spoiled with elite equine athletes in recent memory.
