REISTERSTOWN, Md.—The fourth Monday program at the Maryland Horse Library and Education Center (MHLEC) welcomes acclaimed artist Sam Robinson on Monday, July 24 at 4:00 p.m.

Renowned for his sporting art, Robinson is an award-winning fine arts master who regards his subjects “as broader than just the races and meets. The setting is the country and indeed the people who make it work. I make informal portraits of the large cast of characters, and views of the farms and woods.”

Robinson will discuss his passion for his subjects and why he believes his work is important to the overall public view of the sport. His art will be on display, with select items offered for sale.

The discussion will take place at the Maryland Horse Library & Education Center at 321 Main Street in Reisterstown.

Author Talk and Book Discussion: “Self-Destruction: The Rise, Fall, and Redemption of U.S. Senator Daniel B. Brewster”

Join us at the MHLEC on June 26 at 4 p.m. for an author talk on 
Self-Destruction: The Rise, Fall and Redemption of U.S. Senator Daniel B. Brewster.

Author John W. Frece, a longtime legislative reporter with the Baltimore Sun and United Press International, will discuss the book and Brewster’s life, along with members of the Brewster family.

Howard & Sondra Bender Educational Series – Pasture Management Seminar

The Maryland Horse Foundation and University of Maryland Extension will kick off the Howard & Sondra Bender Educational Series with a seminar on pasture maintenance June 27th at 5:30 p.m.

Join us at the MHLEC to hear from equine and forage specialists Dr. Amy Burk and Dr. Amanda Grev as they discuss one of the most crucial aspects of farm management.

About the Howard & Sondra Bender Educational Series

The Howard & Sondra Bender Educational Series is the newest addition to the slate of existing educational programs produced by the Maryland Horse Foundation. The series, hosted at the Maryland Horse Library & Education Center, utilizes the facility’s resources to offer an educational series of in-person gatherings covering a wide range of topics for people involved in and/or interested in learning more about the Maryland horse and/or agricultural industries. These sessions will be recorded and available for public viewing as an on-demand resource. 

The Maryland Horse Foundation has partnered with University of Maryland Extension to deliver a set of 4 seminars over the course of 2023, following a general theme of sustainability.
