Songbird Retires

September 1, 2017

Songbird has been retired with a stellar record of 13 for 15 with two seconds. She was one of the best and most exciting fillies we had the pleasure to see recently and her record is not far behind the likes of Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta in my opinion.

Beholder, who was also at that level, is one of two to defeat Songbird, the other being Forever Unbridled. They are both high quality racehorses. Songbird’s greatest race may be one she lost albeit not by much when Beholder nosed her out while she was pinned down on the inside as a three year old in the 2016 Breeders’ Cup Distaff.

She’ll be missed and is going into the Keeneland fall sale. Bring your checkbook, you’ll need it.
