ARCADIA, Calif.—Santa Anita Park has announced it will make special pre-sale ticketing opportunities available to fans who plan to attend the track’s Classic Meet opening day on Monday, Dec. 26 beginning next Tuesday, Nov. 29 for those that register at santaanita.com.
An iconic destination on the Southern California sports landscape since Christmas Day, 1934, Santa Anita will again offer all fans its traditional wall calendar free of charge with paid admission on its newly branded Classic Meet opening day. Known as Santa Anita’s Winter Meet dating back to the mid- 1930s, the Classic Meet will offer fans and horsemen classic, world class racing through April 9.
Additionally, fans will again have the opportunity to assist in Thoroughbred aftercare as the popular Mathis Home Plush Toy Horse will be offered as a way for fans to contribute to the California Retirement Management Account (CARMA).
With top jockeys such as Frankie Dettori, Flavien Prat, Juan Hernandez, John Velazquez, Mike Smith, Victor Espinoza, Ramon Vazquez and others on-hand, world class racing will be the order of the day throughout the Classic Meet, which will be immediately followed by Santa Anita’s Spring Meet, which will run from April 22 through June 18.
Fans are advised that Santa Anita Park Newsletter subscribers can purchase pre-sale tickets to opening day for two days, on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30. Ticket sales for opening day will be available to the General Public beginning Thursday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. by visiting santaanita.com/events and tickets can also be purchased by calling the Santa Anita Ticket Office at (626) 574-6366.
A total of six graded stakes will highlight the opening day racing menu, headed by three Grade I events, the $300,000 Runhappy Malibu, the $300,000 La Brea and the $300,000 American Oaks.
Three Grade II stakes, the Santa Anita Mathis Mile, the San Antonio, and the San Gabriel will serve as supporting features on what promises to be a truly Classic afternoon.
