Sacred Life (FR) Wins Thursday’s Featured Hagyard Purse

LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 10, 2019) – Michael Dubb, Madaket Stable, Wonder Stable and Bethlehem Stables’ Sacred Life (FR) survived a claim of foul for interference in the upper stretch to win the featured $80,000 Hagyard Purse for 3-year-olds and up by 2¾ lengths over Exulting before a Thursday afternoon crowd of 11,082.

Trained by Chad Brown and ridden by Javier Castellano, Sacred Life covered the 1 1/16 miles on a turf course rated as firm in 1:40.79. The victory was the third of the afternoon for Castellano.

Sacred Life, dropping into allowance company off a runner-up finish in the Bernard Baruch (G2) at Saratoga last month, is a 4-year-old son of Siyouni out of the Montjeu (IRE) mare Knyazhna. Thursday’s winner’s check of $39,900 hiked his bankroll to $270,268 with a record of 12-5-5-0.

Sacred Life returned $3.60, $2.80 and $2.40. Exulting, ridden by Joel Rosario, returned $6 and $4.40 with Parlor finishing a half-length back in third and returning $5.60 to show.

Racing continues Friday beginning at 1:05 p.m. ET with a 10-race program headlined by the 23rd running of the $150,000 Buffalo Trace Franklin County (G3) for fillies and mares going 5½ furlongs on the turf. The Buffalo Trace Franklin County will go as the afternoon’s ninth race with a 5:30 p.m. post time.
