Amor Y Control Seeks 7th First-Place Finish in a Row

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is expected to grow to an estimated $125,000 Friday at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Thursday for the second racing day following a mandatory payout.
Friday’s Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9, featuring Amor Y Control’s bid for a seventh consecutive first-place finish in Race 8, a five-furlong starter allowance/optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares on Tapeta. The Elizabeth Dobles-trained 7-year-old mare, who was disqualified and placed second in one of her first-place finishes on the all-weather surface, will need to be at the top of her game Friday while meeting six well-matched rivals with strong Tapeta form.
Amor Y Control has established herself as a genuine Tapeta specialist, having produced eight victories and 16 in-the-money finishes from 18 starts on the all-weather surface. She finished third in her one and only dirt start.
Joseph Trejos, who has been aboard for Amor Y Control’s last seven races, has the return call.
The Rainbow 6 carryover pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. On mandatory-payout days, the entire Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the wager’s six-race sequence.

Trainer Michael Maker notched a double with Playground Legend ($10.80) in Race 5 and Hot Blooded ($8) in Race 9.
