Recapping the week in SEC Football and a look ahead to the weekend

Our Breeders’ Cup Package Info is HERE

We have reached week 8! It’s not the official halfway point but it feels close enough. Up and down weekend last weekend with Oklahoma the only team that really dissapointed us. Fascinating week in SEC football in terms of teams all of a sudden trending down and teams all of a sudden trending up. 2 weeks ago Texas was undefeated and #1 in the country. Fast forward 2 weeks and they are in a do or die spot at home against Ole Miss. 2 weeks ago Alabama looked liked a top 3 SEC team and a top 5 national team. 2 straight losses and all of a sudden they are on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoff.

Recapping Week 7

LSU was an easy winner from start to finish and they covered every number whether you got 13, 14, or even 17.

Tennessee dominated, it did get a little nervy when they kept trading FGs for TDs and were only up 12-9 at one point. But ultimately this game was an absolute ass whooping.

Texas/Purdue both lost so that was quick L.

Oklahoma sucks, John Mateer sucks too. Kentucky may be legit but they also just might be last year’s A&M.

Indiana did not deserve that outcome. We lose the +3.5 on the hook by a few toes out of bounds. Julian Sayin practically done for the year for Ohio State, hard to imagine they can run the table from here or even just one loss. The offense looked brutal with the back up in there.

Week 8 Card

South Carolina ML -130, I don’t claim to be the world’s best CFB handicapper. But I do know a few things about spots and when to take teams. You under no circumstances can take Tennessee here. Don’t get me wrong, UT could win and cover this game. But over time these teams will not cover at a profitable rate. Huge win at home against a major rival, now going on the road vs a middling South Carolina team, 8th straight game for Tennessee.

OU/Miss State Under 47.5, this might end up being a square play but Miss State without Kamario Taylor was a tough watch and the only thing good about OU is their Defense. Mateer stinks and I think the Miss State D may get a little boost coming back home. 24-21 final either way gets us in the win column.

LSU -7, this may be a mild homer play but Auburn coming back home after taking down #1 Georgia, Jordan-Haire will be jumping but I’ve said it earlier in the year I think this Auburn team actually stinks. 3% post game win expectancy last week against Georgia, did not cover at home against Vandy, demorliazed by Florida at home in a raucous atmosphere. Give me the purple and gold Tigers in a runaway.

Non-SEC Lagniappe

UCF +7.5 – my final spot play. BYU coming off the biggest win in program history, traveling east to a decent UCF team, we get a touchdown plus the hook.

Season Record: 20-19-1, -0.9u

Breeders’ Cup Look Ahead Thoughts

F&M Sprint – Looking for someone to come late over the top, Kilwin or Evanescence fit that bill.

Sprint – Can Built turn the tables on Englishman?

Classic – Phileas Fogg scratch really crushes the possible pace set up, Golden Tempo ran well in the Travers’, Sovereignty running with an aluminum pad? I really don’t want to play Forever Young. Will probably anchor my pick 5 with Sov, Tempo, Forever Young, Puma?
