Del Mar Press
MyPoint Credit Union announces their newest partnership with Del Mar and our official charity partner, Camp Wamp, at the Bing Crosby Season’s Opening Day today. Camp Wamp is a place where disabled youngsters find positive experiences. The founder, Stephen Wampler, is a San Diego native who designed the camp to challenge and empower kids with physical limitations to both learn and have fun in an outdoor environment. Stephen’s dream is to inspire kids to achieve what they want out of life. We will be providing these kids with an experience of a lifetime that has never been done at Del Mar before. Many of these kids will experience an up-close and personal look at horses for the very first time.
Before the first race, tagged the “CAN DO,” in honor of the Camp Wamp credo, five kids will have the chance to escort riders from the jockey’s room to the Paddock for mount up. Additionally, those kids will be on hand in the winner’s circle to present honors to the winning horse and rider after the race is run.
MyPoint has previously partnered with Camp Wamp by supporting their “Night at Camp Wamp, Del Style” fundraising event hosted at the Hotel Del Coronado. The event raised nearly $100,000 dollars. All funds raised are to help support Camp Wamp and sponsor children to attend this extraordinary camp in the summer of 2020.
Let’s kick off the Bing Crosby Season by focusing on these wonderful kids! Come and cheer on the kids and make their experience even grander. For more information on Camp Wamp’s amazing founder and its heart-touching program it can be viewed at http://www.mypointcu.com/campwamp
