LEXINGTON, Ky.— Stuart S. Janney III’s homebred and heavy favorite Limited Liability charged down the center of the turf course to catch Bakwena in the final strides to win Sunday’s featured $120,000 Redbud Purse for 4-year-olds and up at Keeneland.
Trained by Shug McGaughey and ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr. Limited Liability won by a head and covered 1 1/8 miles on the turf course labeled good in 1:49.56.
Today’s victory came in the 2023 debut for Limited Liability, a 4-year-old colt by Kitten’s Joy out of the Blame mare Hold Harmless. Graded stakes-placed in New York and Virginia, he earned $72,540 for the win to increase his career bankroll to $315,573 with a record of 9-3-0-4.
Limited Liability returned $4.14, $3.16 and $2.32. Runner-up Bakwena, who was ridden by Tyler Gaffalione, paid $4.68 and $3.06 to show. Finishing third was Alex Joon, who paid $2.56 to show under Julien Leparoux.
