Lady Mystify goes wire-to-wire to win Del Mar Feature

July 30, 2021

DEL MAR, Calif.— Exline-Border Racing, SAF Racing or Hausman’s Lady Mystify led six rivals a merry chase and benefited from a wily ride by leading jockey Flavien Prat as she captured the main event at Del Mar Thursday afternoon.

The quick daughter of Bernardini made every pole a winner in the mile dirt test to score by a length in 1:38.55 for the distance. The bay 3-year-old was registering the second victory of her brief four-race career and picked up a winner’s share of $43,200 from the $94,600 allowance purse. She is trained by Peter Eurton.

Finishing second was Natalie Baffert’s Ginja, who was nearly seven lengths the best of the next horse home, R. Chris Larsen’s She’s a Dime.

As the betting favorite, Lady Mystify returned $5.80, $3.80 and $3.00. Ginja paid $5.00 and $3.60, while She’s a Dime returned $3.80 for the show.

In the track’s ever-growing Pick Six Single Ticket Jackpot wager, nobody was able to tab all six horses today and the carryover grew to $370,475 for Friday’s eight-race program. First post on Fridays is 4 p.m.
