John Gosden’s Mishriff Steps Up in Prix Du Jockey Club at Chantilly

July 5, 2020

John Gosden had no luck in the Investec Derby and Oaks at Epsom on Saturday, but that changed at Chantilly on Sunday when Mishriff provided him with his first winner of the Prix du Jockey Club.

Owned by Prince Faisal, Mishriff was impressive winning last month’s Newmarket Stakes and took a big step forward in the Group 1 Jockey Club.

Ioritz Mendizabal, who won the race on Vision D’Etat a year ago, rode the Make Believe colt, who beat The Summit and favorite Victor Ludorum, who was unable to complete a Classic double after winning the Poule d’Essai des Poulains.

Gosden saw Worthily finish last in Saturday’s Investec Derby, and Frankly Darling was a well-beaten third in the Oaks.

Mishriff was well placed in mid-pack and found good acceleration in the latter stages which earned him early odds of of 20-1 with Betfair and Paddy Power for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

@pastthewire As always brilliantly written and perfectly toned observations written by @jonathanstettin everyone in the industry needs to read this and view it as a call to action.
