High Five / Low Five
High Five!
High Five to bug rider Julio Correa. Julio is making the switch from Maryland to the New York circuit. We wish all the best to this young rider making the big move.
Low Five!
We are throwing a Low Five at the Jockey Club. Apparently the name Catholic Guilt is OK, but Jewish Guilt is not…this is some kind of inconsistent discrimination or something.
High Five!
High Five to Eurico da Silva for winning 6, yes 6 races on the card at Woodbine! A High Five to apprentice Kendall Sterritt who scored the first of what is hopefully many stakes wins aboard Rooster at Indiana Grand.
Low Five!
A Low Five does not even scratch the surface for the abandonment of a horse, or any animal the way things occurred near Mountaineer. This needs to be investigated thoroughly, not swept away and there needs to be some serious accountability. Disgraceful.
Low Five!
Javier Castellano was just too over confident aboard odds on favorite Emaraaty in the 7th at Keeneland and could not get by Louder Than Bombs under an aggressive ride by Ricardo Santana Jr. You just can’t ride those races over confidently unless you turn out right. Low Five Javy.
High Five!
High Five to Enable, John Gosden and of course Juddmonte Farms. Great to hear Enable will race next year and likely try for a third Arc. We’d love to see her do it.
Low Five!
Low Five to Charles Town. We hate seeing this. Favorite Runnin’toluvya acts up at gate, is allowed to run, eased and vanned off with a cut to stifle. Thumbs down Charles Town.
High Five!
High Five John Velazquez for a sweet front end ride aboard Cambier Parc in the Lane’s End QEII Challenge Cup at Keeneland on Saturday. Johnny recognized there was no legitimate pace in the race and seized the opportunity to go wire to wire for his record fifth win in the prestigious race. Johnny is in fine riding form of late.
High Five!
Congratulations to all the Industry Employee Award winners! Bessie Gruwell, Ernest Blair, Leslie McCall, Jenny Carpenter, Saul Castellanos, Amy Stokes, and Bobby Lillis! High Five to you all. Well done!
