High Five / Low Five
Low Five!
Big Low Five to the Graded Stakes Committee, a flawed system which looks at only the last 5 years and helps erode the great history of some races and the Sport of Kings. Too many blunders for a list.
Low Five!
Sure it was probably the right call to cancel races yesterday at Aqueduct. Low Five for waiting until 8 minutes before the first race.
High Five!
High Five to Britney Eurton, she gets the peoples choice award for Best Racing Analyst. Cannot deny her enthusiasm.
High Five!
High Five to the connections of Stormy Liberal. He is being retired to Old Friends which is exactly what he deserves. Good to see the disagreement between the partners did not get in the way of what is best for the horse.
High Five!
High Five to the Royal St. Lucia Turf Club who officially openedĀ its doors with a four-race card highlighted by the $150,000 Pitons Cup. Hopefully as tracks close in the US world class facilities open in other places. Looks like it may be worth a trip.
Low Five!
Low Five to this whole Global Symposium. Every year the same thing. They talk about everything. They accomplish very little.
Low Five!
The whole Stormy Liberal thing gets a big Low Five. There are obviously a few layers to this story, and so far none of them really any good. Our . hope is for the horse being ok and taken care of.
High Five!
A Past the Wire High Five to Mattress Mac for putting his racing reforms out there. No, nothing new there, and we have written about most of these same things for years now, (great minds and all) but the more it gets in front of shot callers faces, maybe someone will do something.
Low Five!
The Thoroughbred Safety Coalition has their work cut out for them and we will be watching them closely. They get their first Low Five for not inviting the Jockeys’ Guild to be a member and have a voice on safety from the beginning. We are not saying give them reign, but they deserve a seat.
