Fresh off the Cigar Mile win Jack Sisterson joins the Gate to Wire crew for another great episode

December 8, 2020

In this episode brought to you by Spendthrift Farm we have Jack Sisterson!

Jack Sisterson did a masterful job with True Timber to win the Grade 1 Cigar Mile. Kendrick Carmouche rode a fabulous race. As it turns out Jack penciled the Cigar for True Timber early in the year and pointed the horse to the race all along. The goal was to have him peak in the Cigar Mile and peak he did. If things go right from here the plan is to stretch him out to two turns and a mile and an eighth in the Pegasus. He may even head to the Saudi Cup for Jack and Calumet Farm.

Join us for a candid chat with Jack and hear how he thought he was being “punked” or “pranked” when he was offered the prestigious job of training for legendary Calumet Farm. Jack explains why he picked the Cigar Mile and how he pointed for the race all year.

True to who we are, of course we brought up “The Tweet.” You know, the tweet from Chad Brown towards Shug McGaughey. Jack is not one for social media but we did get how he learned of “The Tweet” from him.

Our open invite to Chad, Shug, and of course Brad still stands. The only response was Brad who is ready, willing, and able.

Jack was a great guest, and has great respect and enthusiasm for the Sport of Kings. We think you’ll enjoy this episode and if you did let Chad and Shug know we’re waiting.

You may even learn the best horse racing movie ever, at least in one of our hosts opinions, and no it is not Let It Ride!
