Edgar Prado Gets 7,000 Wins

May 16, 2018

Edgar Prado, a gentleman and consummate professional achieved the rare 7000 win milestone in his great career.

I remember when Richard Migliore was injured while riding first call for John Kimmel and Kimmel brought Edgar to Saratoga to ride for him. Prior to that Edgar was the king of the Maryland circuit but coming to New York showed he had the talent to compete with the best anywhere.

I will always have an affinity for Edgar Prado. He rode for me personally but of equal importance he helped a big score when he brought Birdstone home in the Belmont Stakes as we cheered “Get Em Edgar” to the dismay of the crowd at Calder that fun day. You can read that great Edgar story below which actually started Past the Wire and my column. Edgar got his 7000th win at Parx aboard Thefundsarelow in the sixth race.

Congratulations Edgar, well deserved!
