There are many people that only watch horseracing for the Kentucky Derby or the Breeders’ Cup in part because there are many people that have no idea how to bet a race. The thought of learning everything there is to know about the sport can be quite cumbersome to say the least. I have had many conversations with what I would consider the recreational types that only go every so often. The major turn off for them is how to manage all of the data?
Most accomplished horseplayers have been in or around the game for a large portion of their life, so it’s safe to say they acquired a lot of knowledge over the years. Ask any horseplayer and he or she will tell you they are always still learning no matter how long they have been in the game.
For those that always wanted to know where to find the best sources of information on horseracing today I decided to put together a list of places that can be sought out and used as reference points of information. Just like technology horse racing has evolved as well. Gone are the days of just using a racing form. The internet is a vast resource for anything these days and a lot of the technology for horseracing has gone digital.
One of the best places to seek information on horseracing would be Equibase.com. This is a site that offers so much data at your fingertips that it’s literally like a one stop shop. Equibase has their own staff of clockers and race watchers that constantly input data into their programs. Race results, charts, PP’s, E Speed figures, daily scratches and even various pick services.
There are several type of reports one can purchase on Equibase such as; maiden reports, workout reports, performance cycles and the list goes on and on. They even have a program called STAT Race Lens that helps you identify horses that could potentially win next out. Just last year in 2019 the National Handicapping Contest that is held every year in Las Vegas was won by a gentleman that used STAT Race Lens for the contest. He walked away with a whopping check for $800k.
My advice to anyone that is looking to try and find as much information as they can about horseracing but they are afraid to ask would be to give Equibase a try and I can assure you that you will find everything you need and more. Horseracing can be a very fun hobby or form of entertainment as it offers just about everything one would want in a fun filled day. When you’re at the track you have the wide-open air, the smell of dirt, thundering hooves of the horses as they cross the finish line and lets not forget the food vendors. Take a break and grab a street taco or a beer, relax in the shade or take in the rays of the sun. If you’re a high roller you can gain access to the VIP areas of the track. You would think your in heaven or at your local country club. Please whatever you do, don’t allow yourself to get overwhelmed by all the information that is out there on how to figure out how to play the horses. The information is at your fingertips on websites such as Equibase.
