Aristocratic, coming off one promising start for Bob Baffert and Khaleem Shah, was favored much of the time over Bob’s firster Aquamarine, a Gemologist colt for Zayat Stables. Aquamarine took the late money and went off favored by post time.
The back story is this is the first horse of Shah’s Bob ran against since the parting of ways recently between the prominent owner and Hall of Fame trainer. Aristrocratic was running for the first time for Doug O’Neill and was being ridden by regular Baffert exercise rider and afternoon jockey Martin Garcia.
Aquamarine proved best in the end, running down Aristocratic.
